have a lovely weekend.  and you can buy those awesome tea towels from here.

three recipes i want stefan to cook

three recipes i want stefan to cook /  thai beef stew with lemongrass and noodles, crispy ceci and roasted root vegetable fajitas.

did i get your attention at crispy ceci?  i thought so. we have eaten these at campagnolo every single time we visit the restaurant which is conveniently located near us.  and lucky us, they released the recipe just a couple of months ago for their fifth anniversary. i cannot wait for stefan to give it a try at home!

kai: he is studying for a science test.  his teacher shared this rock cycle rap video to help teach the class about rocks and minerals.  kai was all over it.  he is prepared and knows his stuff.

weekend pics, family time

a long busy weekend is over.  spending time with the lovely melanie and her kiddos always makes for a great weekend.  this time they hung out with us on the mainland.  we all crowded into my little house enjoying each other, stepping over each other, and being cozy.  we didn't want them to go but we plan to be together soon!

they came for snow and snow they got.  it's been snowing in the city and thus on the mountains so they chose a very good time to visit.  only perfect snowy conditions will get stefan boarding and finally the weather cooperated and so he joined his sister and the kids on the slopes.  kai joined the fun after his ski instruction... his dad took him on a double black diamond run - bumpy, insane, for experts - which kai loved (i am only glad i didn't know about it before hand).

while they skied i snowshoed as i have been doing for the past six weeks.  it was a gorgeous snowy hike although this time it was a lonely one.  if only i knew how to ski...

i met up with them at the beavertails shack for some doughy goodness and hot chocolate.

while they continued to ski the afternoon away, i cozied up in the chalet with a chai and book.  we then met up again to return home.  the kids could have easily kept going.  frolicking in the snow is too much fun.

other scenes from the weekend... trampoline and playmobile fun, a game of telephone that got silly, ruben and kai playing alot of video games, watching enchanted with the girlies, and much more.

hope you had a lovely weekend.

happy tape

washi tape, you have probably seen it on craft websites, blogs and pinterest.  am i right?  i don't exactly remember when it came into my life but i am so glad it did.  japanese washi is so pretty and simple.  i use it to decorate presents, to tape stuff to the fridge, to hang up photos or artwork and to help seal envelopes.  love it.

here are a few images to inspire your washi creations...
